Heatherbank Retirement Village Scotland

Heatherbank – An Idyllic Retirement Village in Scotland

Heatherbank is one of our suite of exclusive and idyllic semi-retirement / retirement villages in Scotland. It’s sited in the countryside not too far from Glasgow, and is set amongst 18 acres of grounds in the hamlet of Shillford, adjacent to the Gleniffer Braes Country Park. Not only are there magnificent views over the beautiful East Renfrewshire countryside, but there are also a whole host of other reasons to consider taking the life-enhancing plunge and move onto the park. In this edition of our blog we’ll look into them.

Why Move to a Retirement Village?

This kind of living has many benefits. Retirement villages are, essentially, small communities of like-minded people – so you will naturally find that your neighbours become good friends. There is a sense of everyone looking out for each other in retirement villages, as everyone is there for the same reason – to enjoy themselves and live comfortably, and with a feeling of security in their environment.

Once you are ready to finally be done with the stresses of managing your bricks and mortar home and have made the decision to move to a low maintenance property at one of our retirement villages, you’ll find life becomes so much more relaxing. You’ll have more time on your hands to enjoy the things you love – the leisure pursuits that keep you feeling young and happy.

At Heatherbank in particular there are plenty of options within easy reach.

Why Live at Heatherbank Retirement Village?

Amazingly, there are over 20 golf courses located within a mere 9 miles of Heatherbank. They say golf is a good walk spoiled, but even if that’s true there are 20 amazing opportunities to stretch your legs! There is a bowling club in nearby Neilston, plus Barrhead Foundry, a modern leisure centre in nearby Barrhead. It offers a well furbished gym with the latest fitness equipment, plus many fitness classes running weekly, plus squash courts, two swimming pools, and a games hall.

The area also features fishing opportunities, as well as being a rambler’s paradise with heritage trails, nature trails and walks. For the more sedentary, there are wonderful local restaurants and public houses in which to pass some convivial time. There are railway stations at Barrhead and Neilston so if you’re wanting to travel further afield – or receive visitors coming in by train – it’s easy enough to do so. Glasgow airport is a mere 30 minute drive away.

In terms of the necessary facilities, locally, there are a Doctors surgery, dentist and pharmacy in Neilston so your medical requirements should be easily managed. There is also a post box on Heatherbank, as not everyone is au fait with the internet and social media and some people prefer to keep in touch the old-fashioned way!
